RSA Achieves the Highest Possible Crash Rating from the U.S Government: K12
Again on December 12, 2006, RSA Protective Technologies accomplished another important milestone. The DOD US Army Corps of Engineers, Protective Design Center has issued another certification letter for a successful K12 rating achieved at the KARCO Engineering test facility in Adelanto, California, for the RSA/K&C K12 Shallow Mount 30-Inch Bollard Pad System.
According to the Certification Letter the test article sustained contact with the 15,000 lb vehicle speeding at 50mph with a vehicle penetration under 10 feet. (The K12, L2 rating requires a penetration of less than 20 feet.) Their determination is that this RSA/K&C passive vehicle barrier meets the Department of Defense (DOD) certification criteria and will be placed on the DOD list of certified vehicle barriers that is available to DOD and private sector architects, engineers and planners.
